confused...
'Lift not the painted veil which those who live Call Life'
Flat simple saying... I don't understand what this sentence's trying to say. It's the subject title for a movie review, the movie's name is 'Painted Veil'. I guess I can't see the subject here, what does he( or she) think Painted Veil wuld have 'lift'? I strongly sensed that some indicatives should apply in here...
Is it possible anyone would deviates it to a much simpler form so i can try to understand the structure of this sentence? TY in advance.

So 'Lift not' is just 'don't lift', to me it was more like he wuld prefered to lift something else instead of the veil... Like 'Lift not... but lift this...' . Crystal clear now.

I think i understand it as, don't tell them they are conditioned (painted veil, life as they know it?) or let the conditioned know, that they are so ? dont let them know they live in a fragment, figment or "veil" of reality ?????? i think it is saying "take your coloured glasses off" ( conditioning) and see the world as it is ? is it about them or us? please help if you can?
