Correct punctuation per British style quotes? Would you change anything?

Jane said: “I was walking down the road and I met Stephen, and I told him, ‘I’m not talking to you, you so-and-so,’ and he said to me, ‘I’m not talking to you either, so there.’ ”

thank you

I'd use a comma after 'Jane said' rather than a colon. Apart from that, I wouldn't change anything. Rover

In any variety of English, this use of the colon is wrong, though very common. Use a colon after an independent clause, not a fragment.
