Conditioning

Enlightment is a state of mind where our conditioning, including our goals and dreams, doesn't push us around.

Even if our goals and dreams are wonderful, they have a downside: they pull us away from the present moment.

In this paragraph, I'm wondering what this 'conditioning' is. Any comments will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Hi, It's an odd word to use here. Perhaps it means 'the way that our environment and other external factors have made us'. eg He was raised in a very devoutly Christian family.

Thanks a lot Clive.

It sounds to me 'conditioning' may mean the environment around us.

I'm not sure whether I get it clearly though.
