Conditional Sentence

At first thanks to all of teachers & Forum members.

"If I worked hard, I would get a good job."

If I am not mistaken, This sentence is about 'imagine'. And if my imagine is in 'Past', so I agree with this sentence.
But, My imagine can be in future, that time "why should/do I use "If I worked hard"? It's a past clause.
Please remove my confusion.

Hi Here when we say it is imaginary we mean it is unrealistic, and thus no scope for change in future as well. If he worked hard he would get a good job. He does not work hard now, and is not likely to change also.

If I worked hard, I would get a good job.

Using 'worked' (past tense verb) and 'would' makes the sentence conditional. That means you are not working hard, so you will not get the job.

Hi
You needn't use "If I worked hard". I have mentioned this in my previous post
If he is going to work hard (This denotes your assumption or 'imagination' about future), he will get a good job.
