conditional sentence

Is this sentence grammatically correct.

_If the company expands its units in early years of the planning horizon, its total benefit will be lower compared with the case when this expansion occurs in last years._

It is rather stilted, but largely correct. I would make a couple of changes, however. If the company expands its units during the early years of the plan, its total benefit will be lower compared with the case when this expansion occurs in the later years.
