Conditional perfect--3 questions

1) Is there any instance, apart from in conditional III, that 'would have + past participle' is used?

Also, what is the function of would in this sentence?

2) Is would future in the past here?

3) Is this a grammatical tense simplification?

I invited two of my friends to the party to ensure I had someone to talk to.
