Conditional Clauses help?

I need proof that my following sentence is correct.

It (would give) me such joy if just as I (am leaving) you say ......

Apparently the people marking my test showed me the answer key where the correct answer was

It (will give) me such joy if just as I (am leaving) you say....

Need proof that I am not wrong.

Strictly, you are wrong, though we hear what you have written often enough. According to formal grammar, these are correct: It would give me such joy if just as I was leaving you said... It will give me such joy if just as I am leaving you say...
