Hi.

Can A below stand as an unreal sentence about present or future?

Suppose it was an emergency or something similar:

A:If that was(were) my mistake I would have needed to apologize.

(That is definitely not my mistake, if that is I would have needed to apologize.)

Hi.

If it was my mistake, I needed to apologize.

If I could do it, I did it.

Is this type of conditional sentence above(ie. If simple past + simple past) used commonly? To be honest I got a bit odd feeling of it.

And how about below?:

If it was my mistake, I have needed to apologize.

If I could do

If it was my mistake, I needed to apologize.- Fine and common.

If I could do it, I did it.- Fine and common

If it was my mistake, I have needed to apologize.-- No good! (Oh, maybe possible in a very limited situation, but certainly odd out of context.)

If I could do it, I have done it.- - OK
