People call/calls me Sam,

Which one is correct?

I could consider "People" as a group of individuals, so it should be a singular or I could also consider "People" as an uncountable noun, so it should be a plural.

Could you please explain?

Sam28 I could consider "People" as a group of individuals No, you cannot; it is not a group noun. Nor is it uncountable: one person, two people. It is a plural countable noun unless you are speaking of ethnic groups—and even then it would not take a singular verb.
