These animals are related to deadly diseases.


If 'are related to' was replaced with 'are concerned with' as this:

These animals are concerned with deadly diseases.

would it sound OK and make the same sense?

They don't make the sense that is necessary. 'Related to' and 'concerned with' are extremely vague and uninformative words.

These animals are usually associated with deadly diseases (when speaking of poisonous animals, for example).

I think what you intend to do is make the association between those animals and some deadly diseases.
