Conceptual relations

Hi.
Is 'conceptual relations' used correctly in:
'This period has witnessed significant development of political, socioeconomic, and conceptual relations with the west.'

What do I use?

By 'conceptual relations' I mean that they exchanged knowledge, ideas, thoughts,.... not political or economic or culteral relations.

Thanks in advance

I think you mean something more like "cultural exchange" even though you don't seem to think the word "cultural" is appropriate.

Google "cultural exchange". It may give you a better idea of what that term means in English.
