Essay & Composition Writing

Computers are now the basis of the modern world. They should therefore be introduced into classrooms, and their programs used for direct teaching purposes. However, dependence on computers in teaching may carry a certain degree of risk to...

There is no doubt that society is becoming more computer-based. Yet, while there are numerous advantages of integrating computers into education, depending on technology may pose a threat to pupils’ creativity and concentration. This essay will examine thoroughly both views before the author’s verdict is drawn.

On the one hand, it is justifiable to say that computers are sources of distraction and students’ less brainstorming. In one recent survey, 60% of students admit that they would regularly engage in off-task activities with the help of computers; such as checking chat conservation or surfing the internet for no purpose, which is really distracting. This does not only take a toll on students’ performance themselves but also their nearby peers. Thus, computers could drive pupils to distraction. In addition to being distracted during class hours, students seem to develop a dependency on this tool. Undoubtedly, computers always provide pupils with a constant stream of information, they may therefore rely too much on technological devices and even cannot think innovatively.

On the other hand, students unequivocally benefit greatly from integrating computers into schools. First of all, apart from gaining knowledge from lectures or libraries, students nowadays have infinite online resources for learning supplied in computers at their disposal. Thus, they can actively broaden their horizons when searching for knowledge themselves and understand it better. Furthermore, it is undeniable that learning with technology is much more interesting than the traditional method. With the help of various educational games, computers would create interactive and exciting classes where pupils appear more eager to study. Moreover, with the help of images or graphics on the computer, students could get a better understanding of what they are learning.

In conclusion, there are admittedly certain drawbacks of incorporating computers into education, I fervently believe that its enormous aforementioned advantages would outweigh the disadvantages.
