Compulsive viewing, true element

AS HE galumphs in smoothly from his run up and stretches every sinew to let loose histhunderbolts, Dale Steyn every inch looks a rugged predator pouncing on a prey. He makes compulsive viewing much like a VVS Laxaman in his true element.
Even though he possess raw pace up his sleeve, with Steyn it’s not about blowing a batsman’s head off. Yet men armed to their teeth and whatnot often appear to be a mouse in a cat show bracing up to him.
The South African pacer, with 13 wickets in three innings at an average of 15 so far, has asked difficult questions off the Indians, a side he relishes to bowl at.
The 27-year-old completed the 15th five-wicket haul of his career when he induced a thick edge off Harbhajan Singh’s bat a delivery to AB de Villiers on day two of the second Test. His figures read 6 for 50.

Please explain to me the highlighted parts. Though I guess "compulsive viewing", "he will make you view him by his wonderful performance".
