Compound-complex sentences

I'm taking some courses in grammar and mechanics, and sometimes have a difficult time identifying sentence types. Could someone tell me if I'm correct in identifying the following?

- At the time, Botswana was a protectorate of Great Britain. = COMPLEX

- Deagol looked into the river and saw something glitter. = SIMPLE

- Marcus Woodsworth was building an empire and the Australian governors did not dare throw him out because he had become a powerful citizen.= COMPOUND-COMPLEX

- Something glittering in the sand caught Marianne's eye; she picked up a broken brooch and placed it in her pocket. = COMPOUND

- The millstone had to be enlarged to produce enough pressure to grind the flour. = SIMPLE
