compound-complex sentences

Can you please correct my sentence below and see if it is a compound-complex sentence or if there should be any corrections? I t has to include the word smoldering.

The raging fire that Trevor had made, was now a pile of smoldering debris, shivering in the breeze.

It is due tomorrow and I'm having a little trouble. If you have any other ideas for this sentence please tell!!!
