Composition

I am a little confused about something that I have to write in a technical report. I am actually describing a method in this way,

The method is not complicated because.......(long sentence)....(end of sentence). The method is based on.........

Is writing "the method" in the second sentence correct? Should i just say it? Or is there any better way of saying that? I don't wanna use "and" because the first sentence is long and it doesn't sound good.
Thanks
