"these companies’ sustainability of operating performance" isn't good. All things considered, I think I'd say: Our focus will be on the sustainability of the operating performance of these companies. The punctuation in your second sentence indicates that "we think" applies to capital markets opening up and refinancing worries receding, but I assume you actually intend it to apply to regulators paying attention.

  • "we think ...
  • would" isn't very good either, and I'm not sure exactly what you mean by it.

Mr Wordy we think regulators will start paying more attention to … -- expressing an opinion that the regulators will do this in the future.

Why do you prefer 'will' / 'should' over 'would'? I thought 'would' was appropriate because I was expressing an opinion.

The fact that you're expressing an opinion is already clear from "I think". To me, the use of "would" makes it seem as if the regulators' paying attention is not only your opinion, but is also subject to some ot
