compliment to, wide spectrum

Wise recruitment Ltd., our sister company, opened in 1996 as a compliment to Mayday Personnel Services Ltd. By opening in Park Gate, near Fareham we have given a balance to our business operation enabling us to encompass employers and employees along the M27 corridor. With over a thousand client companies we can offer both temporary and permanent career opportunities across a wide spectrum of employment.

Please explain the emboldened parts to me.
