Complex sentence

Hi,

This is the eg: He had to go ahead with the shooting and, owing to his bad aim, began missing the target.

If we break this down, it comes to: He had to go ahead and began missing the target. (which is why I left out the he in 'he began missing the target.')

Thanks,

Sorry! My question is: since the sentence is somewhat longer, must we repeat 'he' in the second clause as well, just for continuity's sake?

No, do not repeat the subject. It is not a separate clause, but a compound predicate in the main clause.

He had to go ahead with the shooting and, owing to his bad aim, began missing the target.
