complex pronouns in this context

1. Teachers need to crack down on students bad behaviors. Otherwise they may look down on them.

Q) I wrote a sentence above. I was wondering if the pronouns used are appropriate or give ambigous meanings. If I don't use the pronouns, the result is the below which I think a little strange.

You are right to see that there is ambiguity here. I would solve this problem by using the singular "a teacher" in the generic sense. (Note the apostrophe below as well.)
