Vocabulary

complex / hang-up

1. I have never had a complex about my height.
2, I have never had a hang- up about my height.

Do americans use the expression hang-up like "complex" in #1?

Top answer

Yes, but there is no space before the -up. Note that "Americans" should be capitalized.

So "a complex" is used widely than "a hang-up" because Americans started using it?

In my opinion this term is falling out of use. I wouldn't bother to use it.
