thank you. could you help me understand why we use inversion at the second sentence and why we can not use the most recent one in first sentence.

The president has made many visits to Japan,_____ began today. (the most recent of which/ the most recent one)

On reading the first sentence again, I realise that it is not logical. If the president has made many visits to Japan, his first visit should not be today. Instead, it should be earlier.

At first there was silence. Then came a voice that I knew.
'that I knew' tells us more about 'voice'.

That sentence is fine. He has made many visits. His most recent visit began today.

The president has made many visits to Japan, the most recent one began today.

You'd need a full stop after 'Japan. 'The most recent one began today' would need to be a fresh sentence.
