Complete or Completed

Should I say "The project was complete" or "The project was completed"? I feel like the first one is correct and the second one not so much. Or are they both ok? I'm really confused. Thanks all!!

Both are fine. The first states the condition of the project and the second states the end of the action on it. To me, the second seems the more usual expression ( The project was completed on June 8th / before its deadline ), but context will play a part in your choice.
