Complete a sentence
Could somebody tell me why these combinations are wrong?
Mr. Schuler had finished repairing my computer ___
a) when I arrived at his shop a bit early
b) in case I arrived at his shop early
For a) can I only think of that arrived and in combination with a bit early is redundant, since the time tenses already indicate that.
However, this reasoning doesn't make any sense to me.

It would depend what I wanted to say. They don't convey exactly the same meaning.

'Because of early arrival, he had finished repairing my computer' is not logical!
