Compartmentalise

Hi,

"When I was studying for my history exam, the amount of information I had to absorb was so overwhelming that I could no longer compartmentalise it."

What I'm trying to say is that the information was starting to blur together in my head and I couldn't draw lines between the topics any more. It all became very confusing because it seemed like a patchwork of too many different pieces of information.

Would 'compartmentalise' work or is it only used in reference to emotions?

Thank you.

Ann225 Would 'compartmentalise' work Yes. I don't hear that word much, but it's understandable in the given context. Also, I could no longer keep it (all) straight (in my head) , and also more generally, just I could no longer cope with it .
