Comparison and contrast

Is the following sentence acceptable?

My life is vey relaxed right now; on the other hand, last month things were too busy.

In the above sentence, we use linking words 'on the other hands' to make comparison. However, I am confused about the subjects of the two phrases 'my life' and 'things' are different. How can they make contrast with different subjects?
