A. He is a better student than I am. OK

B. I am not so good a student as he is. I would say "as good a" (despite the fact that it's a negative sentence).

C. I am not such a good student as he is. I'd say this is incorrect usage. It does not sound idiomatic to me at all. I suppose you might say something such as this: "I am not such a good student now as I was when I was younger."

D. I am not as a good student as he is. wrong

Another example:
She is a better performer than her mother used to be. OK

Which of the following is correct?

Her mother never used to give such good performances as she does. This does not sound idiomatic to me at all. OR
Her mother never used to give as good performances as she does. wrong

I'd say the "such a good ... as" and "such good ... as" should be used this way:

"I've never had such a good friend as you"/ "I've never had such good friends as you."
