I believe that sentence D is incorrect. Is that right?

A. He is a better student than I am.
B. I am not so good a student as he is.
C. I am not such a good student as he is.
D. I am not as a good student as he is.
Another example:
She is a better performer than her mother used to be.
Which of the following is correct?

Her mother never used to give such good performances as she does. OR
Her mother never used to give as good performances as she does.
