(a) The processes are running faster than the expected speed.

(b) The processes are running faster than expected.

Hi,

(a) The processes are running faster than the expected speed. Sounds a bit unnatural to me, since 'faster' impies the topic is 'speed'. More natural would be the wording in B.

b) The processes are running faster than expected. Very natural.

(c) The processes are running at a speed faster

Clive is right. There's some repetition indeed in those sentences.

Thank you clive. I am sorry I didn't give the context. The processes are computer processes, for e.g. order processing jobs, that normally take 10 minutes to complete, but lately these processes take 6 minutes instead of 10 minutes. Under this context, could you please comment again?

My advance thanks to you.

Yes, B sounds natural. A and C sound like a word-by-word translation from some latin language.

Hi Juniorwin,

I wouldn't say that makes any difference.

In informal English, you could also say 'The processes have speeded up'.

Best wishes again, Clive
