"Compared to" vs "compare that"

Are the following sentences grammatical? Some grammarians say it is wrong to use "compared to" with a comparative adjectives.


1- She reads more books than I do.

2- She reads more books compared to me.

3- She reads quite many books compared to me.

Right.

cat desk2- She reads more books compared to me.

Nope. The grammarians are right, if for no other reason than it sounds bad.

cat desk3- She reads quite many books compared to me.

Totally wrong. "Quite many" is unidiomatic.
