Compare two sentences.

Is there any differences in meaning between these two sentences: "I couldn't disagree with you more" and " I couldn't disagree with you ANY more"? Thank you!

Top answer

1. "I couldn't disagree with you more" = I disagree with you very strongly. 2.

  • 1.
  • "I couldn't disagree with you more" = I disagree with you very strongly.
  • 2.
  • "I couldn't disagree with you any more" = I was unable to continue disagreeing with you.
  • However, if (2) was encountered in a context where meaning (1) was obviously intended, then it would have to be interpreted that way.
