Compare to or compared to?

Hello Emotion: smile

My teacher told me I could use "compared to" only. In her opinion "compare to" does not exist. I thought it did. Could you tell me whether she is right please? Even though more of you will have the same opinion - please post it here so that I could show it to her.

Thank you very much.

I assume you mean a sentence like this. Tom is tall, compared to his brother. You can't say ''compare to' here.

You can't use "compare to" in the context you presented in your first post.

You compare something to something else, but you can't say something has a certain property "compare to" something else. In the latter case it has to be "compared to" something else".
