Which would you say?

1 The souther/more south you go, the hotter it gets.
2 If you don't go to sleep you'll want to sleep more than you'll want to work. (how to say this?)

I think the first sentence should be "The farther you go south,the hotter it gets."

The second one, let's just leave it to the experts.
