Comparative adverbs

Hello

I was doing an adverb quiz a few nights ago that asks to find the adverb, and this question came up:

"The girls are prettier than the boys."

The answer said prettier was the adverb, could someone please explain to me why this is an adverb and not a comparative adjective.I thought adverbs modify verbs, adjectives and other adverbs.

Thanks

Choc
