Vocabulary

'Comparable or Com'parable

Can any teacher tell the rigth way to produce the sound of comparable?

Looking at the KK phonetic symbol printed next to this word, its sound is streessed on the first vowel. However, I sometimes hear people produce the sound like com'parable not 'comparable. Which is better? Please advise.

I think, that comparable is right, because I've heard lots of people saing that.

Hi,

You'll hear some people pronounce it with stress on the first syllable and very little on the second, but others will pronounce all the syllables much more evenly.

Possibly this may be a difference between BrE and AmE, I'm not sure.

Best wishes, Clive
