Company or companion?

Hi there,

I'd like to know the difference between company and companion. I mean, in the following example, are they interchangeable? If not, which one is correct?

ex: Dad, I'm going to go to Africa. But don't worry, I'm not going alone, I have a company / companion.

Thanks a lot~Emotion: embarrassed
