Common usages
Hi,
I have some questions related to (the) common usages.
Here is a situation. If i was eating a bag of gummy bear candy and one friend asked me what I was eating. Do I say, "Gummy bear!" or "Gummy bears!"?
Second, here is a conversation from an article:
"He has done program development for the largest software development firm in China and also graduated from university with an advance degree in computer programming. Seems like he has also written some books on the subject, he really seems to know his stuff."
"Sound amazing, how good is his English?" responds the client.
In the second question, should we use semicolon instead? It seems like a run-on sentence. And, why it is "sound amazing" instead of " sounds amazing"? Should I put the question mark inside the quotation? Is the reason for using plural verb form because the client was amazed by more than one skill the guy had?

I have a question about the common usage of these words/phrases:....
Mainland is not a proper noun (except when it refers to a specific island near Scotland.) So it is not capitalized in e.g. "mainland of Turkey" or mainland China.
