Strange and confusing:

- it could mean that (all) people share a common mind/spirit (a debatable concept at a minimum ...)

- it could mean that (all) people have an ordinary mind (i.e. not too intelligent or original, again debatable)

Hi,

Say Human beings have a common mind.

Or use the plural, if that suits your meaning.

Clive,

Human beings have a common mind.

Does the sentence itself make sense?

It's a sentence written by a Japanese, and what she's trying to say is something like:

Human beings (may tend to) think in a similar way.

Hi,

It's the kind of sentence that is a bit hard to comprehend, but that might make sense in a suitable context.

It's certainly simpler to say something like Human beings (may tend to) think in similar ways.

I agree with Clive. Common is only messing up the interpretation in this case.

Hi,

About the 'ways', does it HAVE TO BE plural?

No, I just prefer it, because it seems to make the statement a little less precise. It recognizes more that we don't all think the same way.
