Comme before ‘and’

Hi,

A:”How was the test?”

B:”There was a time limit, and we had to log in to a portal to access the test questions.”

Should there be a comma before ‘and’?

My instincts are telling me that the answer is yes.

However, they’ve been wrong before. Emotion: big smile

Thank you.
