Commas with Times and Time Zones

Is a comma needed before times and time zones? i.e. 9p.m. EST?

In fact, I just looked in the AP Stylebook and it tells you NOT to put the comma.

However, you SHOULD leave a space after the number.

(Also, to give an example, use "e.g.," not "i.e.,")
