{the Trenton, New Jersey rock band}

Is there an official source that supports the omission of the comma after 2005 and New Jersey?

I don't know if there is such an "official source" and I don't need one. Why would anyone put those commas there? It would be like putting a comma in 'the red, apple'.

The old "rule" was that anything set off by a comma to begin with needs a comma at the end. Many are now ignoring that rule. For my money, it looks junky to put the extra one in. I don't ever use the second one any longer. And I haven't been stoned to death for it.
