Commas before conjunctions??
Does the below sentence need a comma before "but," or is it correct as it stands? It seems to need a pause because of the length, but I'm not sure.
I stared north into the clearing and thought about exploring the ruins later with Kira but was interrupted by the sound of footsteps originating from within the jungle.
