Commas

Would I use a comma before "and" when it separates a clause with an implied subject with an independent clause?

Example: Support research, and you help friends and family members fight cancer.

Thank you

Example: Support research, and you help friends and family members fight cancer. Interesting situation. My own impulse would be to delete both the comma and 'you', because I don't think there is a definitive answer to your dilemma.
