Should I put the name Stallyar between commas?
The elves and their allies ultimately achieved victory, but during the battle, a fire dragon struck Porthios and his griffon Stallyar with its fiery breath.

This rule is ambiguous. Some would tell you to use two commas, some one (after griffon), and some none. I personally would use one, since it's what I learned in grammar school.
