Comma vs Semicolon

Semicolon (instead of comma) after 'rule'? A comma after 'rule' would be a comma slice, correct? Comma after 'rules' in the second part of the sentence?

Example sentence:

There isn't just a rule; there are dozens of rules, and it would take me too long to present them here.

And would a semicolon (not a comma) follow 'you' in this one?

Example sentence:

He doesn't like you; trust me.

Thank you.
