I'm not sure if whether or not a comma would be suitable for this situation, or if the sentence below is correct as is.

I just came back from watching that movie. It was horrible.

I'm not sure if whether or not a comma would be suitable for this situation, or if the sentence below is correct as is.

I just came back from watching that movie. It was horrible.

This is fine. What you have written is two sentences. You can't just join two sentences with a comma.
