Comma usage

I am having a bit of trouble with my comma usage in this sentence. Someone corrected it for me but it doesn't look right. Could you please let me know if this sentence is correct. Thank you:

Jim must have trained my Uncle, Phil, on how to speak well.

The way that my friend wrote it was without the comma after Uncle and left the comma after Phil. Please let me know. Thanks for your help.

You have several choices. You don't want 'on' in any of these. You can say it was your u ncle (no capital), who happened to be named Phil.

Or you can omit those commas. (I would.) They are not really necessary around a single word.

Jim must have trained my uncle Phil
