Comma question

a. "Voodoo Chile" uses a phonetical approximation of "child" pronounced without the "d", a spelling that was also used for Hendrix's song "Highway Chile".

b. "Voodoo Chile" uses a phonetical approximation of "child" which is pronounced without the "d", a spelling that was also used for Hendrix's song "Highway Chile".

The first sentence is from

The second one is mine. I have just changed the first sentence a bit by adding 'which is' to it.

The question is whether there should be a comma after 'child' and whether the comma would change anything in (a) and in (b).

Many thanks.
