Hi,

Is my use of comma here is correct (because of the 'that'):

"I know in general, as well as understand from your answer, that I can..."

It is not correct because of 'that'.

"I know in general that I can ...". A comma would be incorrect there.

In your original sentence, the words 'as well as understand from your answer' need to be bracketed off by two commas.

@fivejedjon, your answer is ambiguous. The first two sentences say no, and the third say yes. Did you mean that for cases such as the second sentence, where 'that' is used directly, there shouldn't be a comma, but if there's an additional sentence between 'that' and the object it refers to, such as in my sentence, then commas are fine?
