Comma Placement

Hello,

In the following sentence, should there be a comma between the words highlighted in red? Why or why not?

"I guess it just goes to show the hypocrisy of our elected officials and how they take us for idiots."

Also, is this sentence parallel in structure? If not, how could it be improved?

Thank you very much for your help.

No, no comma. The part after is an object of 'show'. It is not parallel and can be improved like this: I guess it just goes to show that our elected officials are hypocritical and take us for idiots.
