Comma placement

Comma before 'nearly'?
Within a few weeks she was coming to her lessons, nearly ecstatic, saying that she had never dreamed this was possible-playing without being "bound to the notes" and actually creating music on her own!
OR:

Top answer

I prefer the second version. "possible-playing" is wrong: it should be a dash, not a hyphen.
